Florals and Bows with Altenew – CIC #575

Hello friends! Today is the beginning of an exciting new challenge over on the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge blog! The theme for challenge #575 is add a bow/ribbon and our sponsor for this challenge is Altenew!

I had a lot of fun creating this card using the Build-A-Garden: Dear Dahlias Bundle from Altenew. This bundles includes a stamp, stencil, die set, and mini blending brush.

Using the die set, I first die-cut three sets of flowers and added some ink blending to teach petal using the mini blending brush and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide before assembling them.

To put the flower in, I created a mini envelope using kraft cardstock. I then added some ribbon and a bow to the envelope.

To create the background, I used Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide to create a subtle fade of colour.

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set included in the bundle.

Be sure to check out the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog to submit a card for a chance of winning a $50 Altenew Gift certificate to their online store OR an Altenew Stampwheel (must live in the U.S to be eligible to win the Altenew Stampwheel)!

Fourth of July – Spellbinders & Sizzix

Hello friends and Happy Fourth of July! While I may be Canadian, I had an idea for a fun (and simple) red, white, and blue Fourth of July card and just wanted to share it!

Using my Fiskars 12″ Portable Paper Trimmer, I trimmed small strips of red, white, and blue cardstock and then glued them onto a piece of white cardstock.

Using the Spellbinders Colour Block Slices etched dies, I then die-cut a couple of triangles when I then glued to an A2 card front.

As for the sentiment, I used the Sizzix Celebration Words: Script Thinlits by Tim Holtz die set.

Red, White, & Blue Picnic Scene – CIC #572 Reminder

Hello friends! This is the reminder for Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #572, which is red, white, and blue.

This week I’m sharing a red, white, and blue picnic-themed card perfect for the start of summer!

Using the Lawn Fawn How You Bean Stamp Set, I started by stamping some images and colouring them using the following Ohuhu alcohol markers:

  • Beans: R8, R2, R1
  • Jar: MG060, BGII03, MG020
  • Top: CGII04, CG2, CGII00

I then used the Lawn Fawn Cloudy Stencil and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide to create the sky background. I also used Salty Ocean Disress Oxide on a piece of cardstock I cut to make it look as if the beans were exploding out of the jar!

As for the picnic blanket, I cut thin strips of red and white cardstock and weaved them together to resemble a classic red and white picnic blanket perfect for this challenge!

To finish, I attached everything to a mini slimline card base.

Be sure to check out the amazing inspiration from the rest of the Design Sweeties for challenge #572 and to submit a red, white, and blue card for a chance to be featured as a Sweet Pick!
