CAS Black & White Florals with Altenew – CIC #575 Reminder

This post contains affiliate links that are of no extra cost to you. Using my affiliate links simply helps me to keep doing what I love – thank you!

Hello friends! Today is the beginning of an exciting new challenge over on the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge blog! The theme for challenge #575 is add a bow/ribbon and our sponsor for this challenge is Altenew!

I had a lot of fun creating this card using the Build-A-Garden: Dear Dahlias Bundle from Altenew. This bundles includes a stamp, stencil, die set, and mini blending brush.

Using the stamp set, I stamped the floral image twice on a card front using Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink.

I then added a strip of vellum with a strip of twine ribbon and a bow on top.

I stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set and adhered it to a piece of black cardstock to match the the rest of the card.

To finish, I glued everything together and placed my card front on a piece of black cardstock.

Floral Emboss Resist – Newton’s Nook

This post contains affiliate links that are of no extra cost to you. Using my affiliate links simply helps me to keep doing what I love – thank you!

Hello friends! For today’s card, I decided to have some fun with a technique I have been wanting to try but had not up until now – emboss resist!

I started by stamping a large floral image from the Newton’s Nook Blooming Botanicals Stamp Set using Sizzix Clear Embossing Ink. I then used Ranger Clear Embossing Powder to emboss the image.

Once embossed, I applied a layer of Twisted Citron Distress Oxide and then a layer of Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide to achieve my desired colour. Once fully ink blended, I wiped away the ink on top of the embossed image.

To complete the card, stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set to match the image and placed both the sentiment and card panel on matching cardstock.

Using the die set, I first die-cut three sets of flowers and added some ink blending to teach petal using the mini blending brush and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide before assembling them.

To put the flower in, I created a mini envelope using kraft cardstock. I then added some ribbon and a bow to the envelope.

To create the background, I used Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide to create a subtle fade of colour.

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set included in the bundle.
