Whatever Floats Your Goat! – CIC #592

Hello friends! Today is the start of a new challenge over on the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge blog! Challenge #592 is a theme challenge, and the theme for this challenge is flowers.

I created my card featuring the Bold Blooms Stencil and Floaty Goat stamp set both from Newton’s Nook.

After stamping the image using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink, I coloured the image using the following Ohuhu alcohol markers:

  • Pinks: R120, R190, R200, RV260
  • Greys: CGII00, CG2, CG5

I also added more colour by layering Prismacolor Coloured Pencils.

For the background, I used Simon Says Stamp Sprout Ink. First, I used the stencil to ink-blend a floral background. Then, I removed the stencil and lightly inked-blend using the same colour on top to create a simple and subtle floral background.

Be sure to head on over to the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog to submit a card for a chance to be featured as a sweet pick!

Floral Emboss Resist – Newton’s Nook

This post contains affiliate links that are of no extra cost to you. Using my affiliate links simply helps me to keep doing what I love – thank you!

Hello friends! For today’s card, I decided to have some fun with a technique I have been wanting to try but had not up until now – emboss resist!

I started by stamping a large floral image from the Newton’s Nook Blooming Botanicals Stamp Set using Sizzix Clear Embossing Ink. I then used Ranger Clear Embossing Powder to emboss the image.

Once embossed, I applied a layer of Twisted Citron Distress Oxide and then a layer of Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide to achieve my desired colour. Once fully ink blended, I wiped away the ink on top of the embossed image.

To complete the card, stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set to match the image and placed both the sentiment and card panel on matching cardstock.

Simple, Stencil Fun! – Newton’s Nook

Today I’m sharing my card for Newton’s Nook Inky Paws challenge #199, which is rainbow theme! Who doesn’t love a good rainbow?

Using the Newton’s Nook Bold Blooms Stencil, I used a rainbow of Distress Oxides to create a simple, bright and fun card front. I used the following oxides:

  • Saltwater Taffy
  • Spiced Marmalade
  • Squeezed Lemonade
  • Twisted Citron
  • Broken China
  • Shaded Lilac

After the ink blending, I then stamped a sentiment from the Blooming Botanicals stamp set.

To finish, I attached my card front to a black piece of cardstock to act as the frame and then attached this to an A2 card base.
