Simple Red, White, and Blue Scene – CIC #572

Hello friends! Today I’m so excited to announce that I will be joining the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge team! A ‘sweet’ challenge blog where we use cupcakes to inspire our creations!

For this week’s new challenge, the theme is red, white, and blue.

I first started by creating a scene fit for a rainy day. I used Lost Shadow Distress Oxide and the Lawn Fawn Cloudy Stencil for the sky. Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans Distress Oxide, along with Simon Hurely’s Scene Maker stencil for the grass. To go over the top of my outdoor scene, I attached a panel of cardstock with a circle cut-out using foam tape.

I stamped an image from the Hello Bluebird Rain or Shine Stamp set and coloured it using the following Ohuhu alcohol markers:

  • Reds: R8, R2, R1, RV260, RV270
  • Blues: B2250, B250, B220
  • Greys:CG2, CGII00

I used the coordinating die set to die-cut some clouds that would go along with the scene.

I chose a sentiment from the Hello Bluebird Big Hugs Woodland Stamp set to match the theme of this card.

Be sure to check out the amazing inspiration from the rest of the Design Sweeties for challenge #572 and to submit a red, white, and blue card for a chance to be featured as a Sweet Pick!

Thanks for reading. Catch ya next time!

A Card with Three Tags?! – My First Craft Roulette Submission! Episode #163

Hi friends! Today’s card is my first ever submission for the Craft Roulette show – this card is for episode #163. This episode was also my first time watching the show and I can’t wait to continue watching and to submit more submissions!

The four parameters for this week’s episode were the following:

– Three tags

– May (I used the word may in my sentiment)

– Rose garden colours (I used green and pink)

– Masking (I used the racoon and the masking of the stencil on the tags)

Let me tell you about how I made this card!

Using the Festive Fall Stencil from Echo Park Paper Co., I combined Twisted Citron and Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxides to create a simple gradient of rose garden colours on the three tags.

I used the Cake Time stamp set from Hello Bluebird to stamp a racoon image and coloured it using the following Ohuhu alcohol markers:

CG5, CG2, CGII00, CGII08, CGII07, RV270, RV260, GY3, GY4, GY7

To finish, I printed out a sentiment in a font I liked and attached everything to an A7 card base!

Thanks for reading. Catch ya next time!

A Clean and Simple Card – Hello Bluebird

Hi friends! Although I love fun, bright, and colourful cards, I wanted to try making some more clean and simple cards. So, I present to you… a clean and simple card!

I stamped some images from Hello Bluebird’s “Maverick” stamp set and coloured them using the following Ohuhu alcohol markers:

Fox: YR3, Y4, Y1, Y3, CGII00

Plane: NG03, CGII00, 120, PB6, PB8

I then stamped a sentiment onto the card front and attached the fox and plane onto a cut-out circle (which is actually from my previous card! I like to save my scraps). To finish, I attached the circle to the card using foam squares!

While I love clean and simple cards, it’s hard for me to keep my cards clean and simple… but I definitely want to make more!

Simon Says Stamp February “Winter Blues” Challenge

Hi there, and welcome to the first post of Sasha Makes Cards! The theme of Simon Says Stamp’s monthly Instagram challenge for February is “winter blues,” so I’ve decided to do a fun under-the-water-themed card using some stamp sets from Hello Bluebird!

I first cut two pieces of white cardstock to 4.5” x 6.5” using my Fiskars paper trimmer. I also cut and folded the card base. On the one piece of 4.5” x 6.5” cardstock, I used an ink blending brush (I got mine from Amazon) and created a gradient in the two corners of using blueprint sketch distress ink, faded jeans distress oxide, and salty ocean distress oxide. On the other piece of 4.5” x 6.5” cardstock, I used an ink blending brush and simply blended on some salty ocean distress oxide. I then sprayed both pieces of cardstock with some water to create a really fun bubble-like effect.

Using Fiskars scissors, I cut one of the pieces of 4.5” x 6.5” cardstock (the one with the gradient in the corners) to create a wavy edge.

Using the Hello Bluebird Sea Life stamp set, I coloured the whale and dolphin using the following Ohuhu alcohol markers:

  • Whale: B050, B030
  • Dolphin: CG050, BG9

Then, using the Hello Bluebird Sea Sentiments stamp set, I stamped a sentiment that I thought would go really nicely with my card. I cut out the sentiment using Fiskars scissors.

I also stamped some little fish on the 4.5” x 6.5” blue background to help add some depth to the finished product.

Now, we can assemble the card! Using foam squares, I placed the two wavy, gradient corners on top of the blue background. The sentiment was glued onto the bottom corner using Bearly Art Glue. I then adhered the dolphin and whale to the card using foam squares. And with that, the card is finished!

Being the first card created for otter blue cards, I think it a rather appropriate first card! I can’t wait to create even more cards to share with all of you!
